Quiet Moments

I have always been intrigued by how God shines his pleasure on earth through rays of sunshine. As a child, I believed that His light was shining on another child who did something pleasing to Him. When I see the sun rays streaming through the clouds, I am reminded that He wants me to look for the good in others.

The original photo was taken on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

Pier Pressure

If this seagull could talk, I believe it would say, “ I’m perched here just for you to enjoy my beautiful feathers, not to steal your food or ‘dive-bomb’ over your head, just sitting here for your viewing pleasure.”

The original photo was taken on Singer Island, Florida.

Morning Walk

The quiet of an early morning walk is a beautiful way to start any day. In this picture, you can almost smell the sea salt while feeling the gentle ocean breeze. Such a walk makes memories for those who rise with the sun.

The original photo was taken on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

All shrubs and trees are painted with multiple colors of green thread. Zoom in to see the detail of the many stitches.

Ninini Point Lighthouse

The Ninini Point Lighthouse stands off the shore of Kauai, Hawaii, near the site of the first filming of “South Pacific”. It’s light reflects the message from the film and is a sweet metaphor for the importance of shining our light of acceptance on those around us.

The original photo was taken at Ninini Point, Kauai, HI.

Individual stitches can be seen, close up, by expanding your screen. Check out the detail in this amazing thread painting.

Tranquil Waters

Sitting by these beautiful turquoise waters is a special treat for those who grew up far from an ocean shore. It can capture your imagination as you watch the water cascade over rock or a sandy shore. Take a deep breath and enjoy the moments.

The original photo was taken on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

Jelecote Pine

Jelecote Pine

The draping Jelecote Pines are fascinating to watch as the sea breeze tosses needles against the rocky shore. Not only are these pines beautiful, but they help protect the shore from erosion, like gate keepers standing watch over the sea shore.

The original photo was taken on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

If you expand your screen, you will see the stitching detail of the pine needles.

Native Sea Oats

Sea oats are as protected as they are protective plants. They provide an anchor in the sandy soil, reducing erosion along the ocean’s shoreline. Watching them blow in the wind can be mesmerizing, allowing you to drift into your quiet place of reflection.

The original photo was taken on the shores of Maui, HI.

When you expand your screen, you will see the stitching detail of the sea oats and the dimension of the puffy clouds.

The Beach

No day is typical, but each day is an adventure at the beach. It doesn’t matter the location, but the path always leads to lasting memories.

This thread painting was designed by Nancy as an original piece. Special fabrics, thread, water color, tiny beads, and my imagination are components of this design.

Expand your screen to see the detail of the stitches, the rope lining the path, and the tiny seed beads in the grass.

Weeping Pines

Pine trees in Maui gracefully drape over the rocky shore. These pines withstand the salt spray from the Pacific waters, while protecting potential shore erosion.

The original photo was taken on the shores of Maui, HI.

Pine trees are accented by tiny green stitches. Zoom in to see the detail and enjoy the view.

Sunset Silhouette

Florida sunsets are stunning. This particular one is accented by the silhouette of the beautiful and diversified vegetation stitched in black.

The original photo was taken from the lanai of our home in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

The tropical plants are stitched in black thread, yielding to the beautiful sunset in the background.

Thread painting or free-motion machine embroidery, is a unique way of “painting” the images on canvas or anywhere your imagination takes you. My thread paintings begin with a personal photo, printed onto fabric and prepared for “free-motion” stitching. Beautiful threads and other mediums are used to enhance the photo turning it into gorgeous designs that emphasizes unique attributes. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind.
